cambodiaCambodia (or Kampuchea) is a Southeast Asian country bordered by Vietnam (east), Laos (north), Thailand (northwest) and Gulf of Thailand (southwest).

Travel to Cambodia from these countries is possible, but can be rough. The easiest way is to simply travel directly to its capital, Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh was the home of the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979, making it witness to the killing of more than a million natives. It only opened to visitors in the 1990′s, and travellers to Cambodia will be richly rewarded by getting a glimpse of the wonders that these sights offer:

Angkor-an ancient city with more than a thousand temples, including the world’s largest religious structure, Angkor Wat. The gates are lined with statues, and once inside the ruined city, these can become quite overwhelming.

Phnom Penh-the capital which is renowned for its beautiful riverside and colonial French villas, it houses the Royal Palace and the National Museum.

Kampong Som or Sihanoukville-the place to go for those who love white sand beaches lined with palm trees.

Battambang-the second largest city in the country, it offers old colonial buildings along a serene river.

Kompong Luong-a beautiful floating village in Tonle Sap where you can experience Cambodia culture firsthand, there are schools, restaurants, and houses floating.

Koh Kong-for the nature lover, this place is the perfect spot to travel as it offers majestic views of mountains, waterfalls and jungles. The local zoo and casino offer a modern touch, and boat rides will take you to its mangroves and islands.

Siem Reap-houses the Landmine Museum, dedicated to educating people about the hazards of landmines.
