Travel Tips

passportWho doesn’t want to travel? To immerse yourself in a new culture, to take in the sights, taste wonderfully different food, and lose yourself in a different world. Yet there are many things that one needs to think of, when travelling. The most important thing is to keep yourself safe, and here are several tips for you to have the best travel experience:

The first thing you need to find out is not the best restaurant to eat at, or the nicest tourist spot, but the nearest consulate of your home country. Should you find yourself in any trouble, it is the best place to run to and ask for help.

Make sure you have with you a signed, valid passport, as well as a visa, if it is required. Don’t forget to fill in the emergency information section in your passport.

Most people love to experience a new place by themselves; this is fine as long as you remember to at least leave copies of the basics of your itinerary with friends or family, so should there be an emergency, they can locate you.

Are you covered for medical insurance abroad? It is best to check with your insurance company if you can use your card while you are in a foreign country. If not, it might be best to obtain supplemental insurance.

Lastly, learn how to be street-smart and avoid putting yourself in danger. Learn how to dress appropriately, do not wear flashy jewelry or carry too much cash. Never leave your belongings unattended, and do not accept things which strangers offer you.

Travel can be enjoyable for everyone as long as one remembers simple rules on how to remain safe in a foreign place.
